RideSmart Programs
Rides4Neighbors Transportation Program
Become a part of Rides4Neighbors, our volunteer-based transportation assistance program for older adults and adults with disabilities. Rides are provided by screened and trained volunteers who use their own vehicles to assist transit dependent La Mesa neighbors in need of a lift.

The City of La Mesa receives federal New Freedom grant funds through the San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) to cover development and operating expenses. The La Mesa Adult Enrichment Center accepts RideSmart Applications, explains ridership rules, the suggested donation system, and matches ride requests with volunteer drivers.

Open Your Heart & Car Door to a Neighbor Who Needs a Lift....
Volunteer for Rides
Volunteer drivers are reimbursed for mileage and receive secondary liability insurance. As a volunteer, you decide your availability and choose the rides you wish to provide. There is no minimum time commitment or number of rides required to be a volunteer. We can either call you when a ride is needed, or notify you via an e-mail blast.

As a volunteer, you will be part of a rewarding and meaningful civic program. Community surveys consistently find that what residents like best about La Mesa is the neighborly small town feel. Rides4Neighbors will help build that spirit of community and old-fashioned neighborliness. Join us by opening your heart and car door to a rider in need of a lift!

For more information, call Rides4Neighbors at 619.667.1320 or complete and send in this Volunteer Driver Application.
