Public Opinion Survey

Every three years La Mesa residents are surveyed to ascertain their use of and satisfaction with City services as well as to determine priorities for their neighborhoods and the City. Survey results provide a framework for guiding the organization’s work efforts and are used by the City Council to help shape City budget priorities. In 2006, a statistically valid telephone survey of randomly selected residents was conducted by True North Research in conjunction with the San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG).

The 2006 survey revealed that almost ninety percent of La Mesa residents rated their quality of life in the City as either excellent or good. Ninety-three percent of those surveyed were satisfied with the job the City is doing to provide municipal services. Most importantly, the focus of the study is to measure the City’s performance in meeting the needs and expectations of residents and opening an avenue of communication between elected officials and their constituents.

The full report of the 2006 survey can be accessed from the link below. The next public opinion survey will be conducted in 2009.
