The La Mesa Police Department provides general law enforcement services for the City of La Mesa. The Department has 68 sworn peace officers and 31 non-sworn staff. Our non-sworn staff performs functions such as:

The Department has an active volunteer program, made up of members of the Retired Senior Volunteer Patrol and other volunteers who provide a variety of services for city residents.


Through our staff, the Department responds to calls for service on a 24-hour-a-day basis, investigates crimes, and provides a comprehensive community education program in crime prevention. Our crime prevention programs include:
