Are there any places where my dog can be off leash?
Yes, Canine Corners at Harry Griffen Park has been developed to be an off-leash dog run. There are separate fenced areas for large and small dogs to play and run off-leash.

Can we take our dog to the park?
Dogs are allowed in the parks on a leash no longer than six feet and must be attended to at all times. Effective June 10, 2010, animals are prohibited on any city owned or operated athletic field.

Are there any places where my dog can be off leash?
Yes, Canine Corners at Harry Griffen Park has been developed to be an off-leash dog run. There are separate fenced areas for large and small dogs to play and run off-leash.

Can I reserve an area for a picnic in a City park?
Although a Park Use Permit may be required, it does not reserve an area for your party. Picnic areas are available on a first-come, first-serve basis, except for the amphitheatre in Harry Griffen Park which is rented by the hour.

Do I need a Park Permit?
Park Permits are required for large groups and groups using special equipment such as astrojumps. Contact the Facilities Division at 619.667.1307 for additional information and fees.

Can I have alcoholic beverages at my event?
City parks are alcohol free. However, you may obtain a Special Event Permit with a Park Use Permit for an additional processing fee. Contact the Facilities Division at 619.667.1307 for additional information and fees. Glass containers are not permitted in the parks.

Can I bring a barbecue to the park?
You may bring propane barbecues to any La Mesa park. Most of the parks also have charcoal barbecues on site available for use on a first-come basis.

Can I have my wedding ceremony in the park?
Yes, you may rent the amphitheatre in Harry Griffen Park for weddings and special events. There is seating for 360 people. Call the Facilities Division at 619.667.1307 to check available of this beautiful amphitheatre.

Can I have a band or DJ at my event in the park?
The amphitheatre at Harry Griffen Park is the only area where amplification is allowed. It takes a minimum of 10 days to process the Sound Amplification Permit. Contact the Facilities Division at 619-667-1307 to begin the permit process.
9.
Can I have pony rides at my child's birthday party?
Ponies and other animals, including petty zoos, are not allowed in City parks. Dogs on leash are allowed in the parks.
