The City of La Mesa is taking steps to increase environmental awareness within the community and to sustain our environment. This commitment includes:

The Environmental Sustainability Commission Winners of "Our Planet, Our Home” K-8 Environmental Literacy & Art Contest

The City is preparing a Climate Action Plan funded by a grant from the San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) Emerging Cities Program to take an active role in adopting policies to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and improve public health.

CNG fueling is now available 24/7 at EDCO's La Mesa CNG Public Station located at 8173 Commercial Street, across from EDCO Station.

Graywater systems directly reuse "wastewater" to irrigate plants and is an effective way to household outdoor irrigation consumption.

Help La Mesa track trees! The interactive San Diego County Tree Map is now available online and can be updated by the public.

The City of La Mesa participates in four Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) programs.

The 2005 Greenhouse Gas Emissions Inventory is helping us to determine what areas to address in reducing our GHG emissions.
