The City of La Mesa has developed a Parks Master Plan to identify improvements to the parks system necessary to meet both current and future community needs for parks, open space, and urban respite areas.
The portion of the funding for this project was made possible by a grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, administered through the County of San Diego and the San Diego Association of Governments Active Transportation Program.
The project goal is to create a long-term plan for updating and upgrading city parks and bringing opportunities for increased physical activity into areas of the city that are within 15 minutes walking distance from a park facility.
The Collier Park Renovations Project Master Plan represents recommendations for specific improvements to developed areas of Collier Park as well as concepts for future improvements to undeveloped and underdeveloped portions of the property. The primary goal of this Master Plan is to provide enhanced recreational amenities and opportunities that serve to encourage more active use of the park by residents of the surrounding neighborhood.
